RESCHEUDLED FOR October 8, 2026

We left large unruly piles of woody debris. Help us cut it into movable chucks and load it on a trailer to haul away. This event is in preparation for more honeysuckle clearing and herbicide treatment with CRPD on Saturday October 10, 2026

Volunteers will focus on cutting multi-stem “honeysuckle regrowth monsters” in one section. CRPD Staff will then apply herbicide to the freshly cut stems, after volunteers have left that section and moved on to the next section. We hope to make a significant dent in the honeysuckle growing along Dry Run. WE NEED ALL-HANDS-ON-DECK Rain Date10/31/2026 9am-noon

This Fairfield County facility, though located in Pickerington, is an activated sludge plant with a design capacity of 3 Mega Gallon per Day (MGD). It discharges the clean processed water to Blacklick creek, which then combines with the Big Walnut at Three Creeks Metro Park. Eventually, in Pickaway County, it flows to the Scioto.

Look for the sign and fence/gate. Diane will open the gate and meet us. When you enter, turn left and park by the building. There will be at least one county vehicle there. Please wear sturdy shoes if you want to look at the outflow at Blacklick Creek.

Meet at the Hickory Picnic Area parking lot at 5:45pm. We’ll start hiking the REI River trail at 6pm sharp, because we have only 45 minutes to sunset.

Along the way we’ll see large sycamores and silver maples, typical flood plain trees, and many other tree species along the rim on our return.

Fall colors should be out spectacular.

Please check our website and Facebook for severe weather cancellation.

Abe will talk about AOA’s goals for restoring the lower Scioto River south of I 270. Hewill describe examples of where AOA has been successful and what they learned, and he will talk about specifics of the Genevieve Jones restoration project.
